Pool Attendant - Part Time

Job Summary:
The Pool Attendant is responsible for overseeing the assigned aquatics area including but not limited to splash pads and slides to ensure participants are abiding by pool rules promoting safety and satisfaction in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. The incumbent provides a friendly, safe, clean and enjoyable experience to all participants.
Essential Functions:
Working, as part of a team, to oversee assigned aquatics areas such as splash pads and slides providing a friendly, safe, clean and enjoyable experience to all participants.
Know, understand and consistently communicate policies and guidelines for the assigned aquatics area.
Assist in special assignments, programs and activities as required.
This position reports to the Sr. Coordinator/Program Manager who reports to the Director of Healthy Living. The incumbent interacts regularly with their supervisor, staff, volunteers, and participants.
Qualifications: (Required)
Minimum age of 16.
Certifications required within 45 days of hire: BLS, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen (may not perform duties until certifications are complete).
Ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers
Ability and interest in working with people of diverse backgrounds
Dedicated to participant safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA

Work Conditions:
Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
Observe all areas of the pool with clear vision.
Communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
Ability to concentrate for long periods of time

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
